Who each one is for
Captions.ai is trying to replace your editor. It generates avatars, writes B-roll over your footage, makes music, and fixes your eye contact. If you want a machine to produce a video you did not shoot, that is a real product and this page is not going to talk you out of it.
AI Caption Cut is for the much more common job: you already have the footage, and it needs captions that look like the ones that do well, plus the dead air taken out. It does that job without an account, without an upload, and without a monthly bill.
The honest gaps
Captions.ai translates into 100+ languages. We do not, yet. If you need your captions in another language today, they can do it and we cannot.
They also have avatars, generated B-roll and music generation. Those need a GPU farm. We are not going to pretend otherwise, and we are not building them — they are the reason their plans start at $24.99 a month.
Where the difference actually bites
Credits. A subscription with a credit allowance means two bad months in a row: the month you run out and cannot finish, and the month you barely log in and pay anyway. A one-off fee per export has neither failure mode.
Their plans are listed as iOS only. If you edit on a desktop or an Android phone, that is not a preference — it is a wall.
The reason is architectural, not generous. Cloud caption tools rent GPUs by the minute, so every minute of your video costs them money — which is why their plans meter you by video length, upload size or credits. AI Caption Cut renders on your own device, so a longer video costs us nothing. There is no meter to run.

AI Caption Cut is free to use with unlimited 720p exports that carry a small watermark. Removing the watermark is a one-off payment per video — ₹39 for 1080p, ₹59 for up to 4K. There is no subscription and no account.
Does AI Caption Cut upload my video like Captions.ai does?
No. Your video is read from your disk, captioned and rendered by your own browser, and saved back to your disk. It is never sent anywhere. Captions.ai, like every cloud editor, requires you to upload your footage to their servers to process it.
What can Captions.ai do that AI Caption Cut cannot?
